At Heartland Meat Company we are slicing, dicing, grinding, and seasoning beef, poultry and pork every day of the work week.  We put food safety at the top of our priority list because we know that food is our foundation for life and in order to maintain a healthy life it starts with the guarantee of healthy food products.  Daily inspection occurs by USDA inspectors to monitor our production and we work hard to make sure that we further exceed federal food safety regulations.

We are known for our famous “Picada” cut and were the first meat processor to create this refined strip of beef.  It is most popular in the Hispanic food industry for Carne Asada.

Heartland first had its start in a tiny space in El Cajon in the 60′s where owner and founder, Joe Stidman, worked hard to gain business and quickly moved to a larger space in downtown San Diego on 5th Avenue which is now know as the popular nightlife district, Gaslamp.  In the 80′s the company made a move to a bigger building in National City where it maintained and acquired buildings and warehouse space for over a span of about 20 years.  In 2004 Heartland grew again and built a brand new facility  in Chula Vista that streamlined and consolidated all of it’s operations under one roof while nearly doubling the company’s square footage to just shy of 50,000 square feet.  Headquarters are still today in Chula Vista, San Diego’s South County,and Heartland continues to push the boundaries of the meat industry for now over 40 years!

In the 1990′s the company’s reputation was validated when the Governor of California awarded Heartland Meat with the “Supplier of the Year Award” out of all the food distribution companies in California.  (Don’t forget…California is larger than the country of Germany!)
